Priorities from the HEART

H. HEALTH CARE- We need to rebuild our health care system from the bottom up. I will strengthen our primary care workforce, and our health departments for better access to care. Eliminate inefficiencies, and provide high-quality, cost-effective, care in the community. Pay our health care staff fairly. Make insurance work for the patient, and bring down the cost of medications. I WILL DEFEND A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO MAKE HER OWN DECISIONS ON HEALTH MATTERS AND ASSURE THAT CARE IS AVAILABLE IN MARYLAND.

E. EDUCATION - Improve our education system by ensuring that the Blue Print for success is implemented and mandates are paid for by the State. Make sure every Mid Shore child has an opportunity to a first-class education. Ensure that we have the best teachers and staff by compensating them well, incentivizing their creativity, and supporting them in their endeavors to graduate career and college-ready students. Expand opportunities for all students to succeed starting with full-day PreK, through dual enrollment and AP classes open to all.

A. ASSURE- that our public safety personnel on the Mid Shore are well trained, equipped, and compensated for the critical role they play in keeping us safe. Provide training to decrease bias and promote positive community interactions. Make sure that Broadband is fully implemented in all areas of the Mid Shore. It can save a life.

R. RENEWABLE ENERGY- for the future of the planet. Protect and defend our environment with thoughtful, cost-effective, innovative best practices. Whether farmer, waterman, teacher, doctor, mother, or retired. we all have our part to play in environmental protection. Promote renewable energy sources - solar, wind, and carbon-neutral buildings. Recycle, drive slower, and insist that new developments have efficient sewage systems to protect our waterways. Evaluate old sewage and septic systems, and provide systems for upgrading.

T. TIE- together high-quality health care, a great education system, strong community-based police, and other first responders, with a fully working broadband network and the Mid Shore will attract businesses that pay well, provide decent benefits and contribute to the health of our environment.
